The team at Tooth Kind are experienced, knowledgeable and of course, KIND.

Our dentists are gentle in nature and focus on providing comfortable care for all our patients. At Tooth Kind we always aspire to give our patients the highest quality care and will customise a treatment plan that suits your unique needs and budget.

Dr James M Fox – BDS

JAMES PHOTO1James is excited about modern dentistry and the quality of treatment he is able to offer.He is dedicated to pursuing excellence in patient care and believes in dentistry being gentle, and as pain-free as possible.

James graduated from Newcastle University, UK in 2002. After a few years working in private practice, he followed his dream and moved to Brisbane in 2006.

Away from Dentistry, James can found on the local mountain bike trails, in the gym or generally outdoors enjoying the best that South East Queensland has to offer.


Dr. Chris Milligan – BDS

meet-the-dentist-chrisChris graduated in 2004 and has been working in general practice ever since which means he now feels like an old hand whenever he meets new graduates!

He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and has a particular interest in the use of dental ceramics.

Chris passionately believes in the importance of having a great team to enable dentists to provide the highest possible standard of care in a warm welcoming environment, which is why he’s so proud to be a part of ToothKind.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys mountain biking, surfing, and scuba diving, He’s currently learning Spanish and hopes to put this to good use on his next scuba trip!


Dr. Ian Sugden


Ian joined Toothkind in 2013 and brings considerable expertise in root canal therapy and wisdom teeth removal.

He has considerable experience in both general practice and in various teaching positions.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Heather and their four children. He also tries to complete a challenging crossword every day!

Ian is currently head of endodontics and oral surgery at Toothkind.


Dr. Jeremy Coory

Born and raised in Brisbane, Jeremy completed his studies at the University of Queensland in 2009. Since graduating, he has worked for Queensland Health on the Sunshine Coast where he spends time with the school service and with adults who have serious medical and dental concerns.

Jeremy believes everyone should be able to access quality dental care, especially those who may be avoiding the dentist due to anxiety.

Jeremy enjoys being able to travel while learning new skills and techniques by attending dental courses all around the world.


Dr. Rene Bazin

Rene qualified in Birmingham in 1979 and worked initially for the school dental service, then as an associate in general practice in Lestershire England. Rene then owned several practices in the UK, gaining the Investors in People award in 1998. He also worked part time in a specialist orthodontic practice for two years in Leicestershire. In March 2001, Rene was appointed the clinical director of a six surgery practice for Oasis Dentalcare (the largest corporate in the UK) in north Nottinghamshire.

Rene has been in Australia for ten years, working in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Being committed to continuing professional development, has attended many courses in general dentistry as well as specialist fields e.g. TMJ, advanced crown and bridge, endodontics and orthodontics. This has led more recently to being awarded Myobrace certification.

In his capacity as head of orthodontics at Toothkind, he treats both children and adults and through the use of the Myobrace system is often able to treat tooth and jaw alignment problems while they are developing which can result in simpler and less costly treatment.

In his spare time, Rene loves walking and camping with his wife and their dog Molly. Rene has three grown up children and has recently become a grandfather.


Jacky Shum

Jacky-ShumJacky has a reputation for her gentle chair side manner. She is proud to focus on communication, and to provide a dental experience where patients can smile during and after their treatment. Jacky joined the Toothkind team in early 2015 and has found the practice philosophy to be a perfect match.

A local graduate of Griffith University (Gold Coast), with awards for Academic Excellence, Jacky is passionate about continual expansion of her scope of practice. She has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics – fixed braces, Invisalign and Myobrace.

In her spare time, Jacky loves being in open space in the hinterland or by the water. She is a yoga student, a cooking enthusiast, and enjoys getting lost in books and in travel.


Michelle Pitt

1.1Michelle joined the Toothkind team early 2013, as she felt it was the ideal place for her to continue her commitment to the highest possible standards of patient care.

She enjoys general practice because it allows her to perform a wide range of dentistry while spending time getting to know her patients. Over the past two years at Toothkind, she has developed a reputation with our valued patients as being exceptional with nervous patients and providing a comfortable and caring environment.

Originally from Sunderland in England, Michelle chose to reside in the “Sunshine State” as she enjoys outdoor activities such as playing tennis, horse riding and is currently trying to learn to surf!

You can find Michelle at both our Beerwah and Deagon locations.

Kat Ryan

1.1Kathryn graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2012 and began her career working in General Dental Practice in the UK. She then spent a year as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery gaining experience in paediatric dentistry, surgical extractions and dental and facial trauma.

Kat moved to Queensland in 2014 to continue her dental career in Australia and has spent time working for Queensland Health providing dental care to patients with complex medical problems. Kat is interested in all areas of dentistry but particularly enjoys oral surgery and working with children.

In her spare time, Kat enjoys travelling, keeping fit, scuba diving and has recently been learning to surf.

Mayra Salvati:

MayraMayra is passionate about dentistry, she graduated in 2008 in Brazil, her home country. She then moved to the UK where she concluded a Master Program in Dental Public Health at UCL. This has given Mayra a unique insight to dentistry specifically how oral health can significantly improve the general quality of life of her patients. She believes in a holistic dental approach and is committed to developing an honest and friendly relationship with her patients to ultimately help them to achieve the smile they deserve and improve their quality of life.

Following the completion of her studies in the UK, Mayra moved to Adelaide where she obtained an Advanced Diploma in Oral Health with the focus on Preventative Dentistry and treatment of gum disease.

Mayra is a fully qualified dentist and member of the Australian Dental Council.

Currently, she splits her working time amongst Toothkind and supervising dental students at Griffith University. She is very keen on keeping herself up to date with the latest dental procedures and materials available.

Outside work, she enjoys travelling and has just started CrossFit.

Gejing Huang

GejingGejing (Ge) graduated from University of Otago, New Zealand 2010. Since graduation, She has been practising in Australia with a good exposure to a wide variety of general dentistry including restorative and cosmetic dentistry, crowns and bridges, dentures, root canal treatments and minor oral surgery. She has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and smile design. She believes in practising good quality dentistry and flexible approach to work to provide first-rate care to patients.

Outside the dental surgery, Ge does contemporary dancing, painting and sculpturing. In her spare time, she is building her contemporary art portfolio and hoping to have an exhibition in Tate Modern when she’s 80, or maybe 90.

Mervyn Buys

MervynMervyn qualified from University of Western Cape in South Africa in 2001, after which he ran his own private practice for 9 years whilst at the same time lecturing at the University. Mervyn made the move to Australia in 2010 and worked for the South Australian Dental service until March 2015 whilst tutoring in Oral Surgery at Adelaide University in 2011.

Mervyn and his family moved to Queensland to join Toothkind in March 2015. Loves all aspects of dentistry and is especially interests in minor oral surgery, endodontics and pedodontics.

In his free time, Mervyn loves to spend time with his wife and three young children.

Ben Cosson

BenBen grew up in Canberra and moved to Queensland, in search of sunnier pastures. His philosophy is to treat patients as he would like to be treated, and promoting understanding of the dental disease and treatment, ensuring his patients have a gentle experience and can help prevent any future issues.

Ben is a graduate of Griffith University (Gold Coast) in 2011, receiving Academic Awards for each year of study. After graduation, he worked for the Royal Australian Air Force for three years, and he joined the Toothkind team in mid-2015. He performs all general dental treatment and likes to help both children and adults overcome their dental fears.

In his personal time, Ben has been busy with the birth of his first baby girl, but loves to play guitar and sing, and has been learning Japanese. He also likes to play squash and represented the Air Force team two years running.

Appointments are available with Ben at both our Deagon and Jimboomba locations.

Warren Wells

Warren is a graduated the University of Queensland with First Class Honours and has been practicing general dentistry in our beautiful sunny state for over 30 years. He joined Toothkind when he decided his long-standing Jimboomba practice should become a member of the Toothkind family.

He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and firmly believes in focusing on prevention and gum health with regular maintenance visits.

Outside of hours, Warren loves spending quality time with his beautiful family, walking his dog Bundy and as many fishing trips as he can arrange!

Mishari Al-Dhafeeri

Graduated in 2008 from Glasgow University in the United Kingdom. Since then he has furthered his studies, continuing on into prosthodontics, and at present, is currently completing a Double Masters in this field.

He has a keen interest in reconstructive dentistry, sleep apnoea, snoring and bruxism (grinding and clenching of your teeth), and is passionate about preventative dentistry. He is a strong believer in gentle and pain-free dentistry.

He splits his time between Toothkind and supervising dental students at the University of Queensland.

Outside of work, Mishari can be found practicing Latin Dance and trying to surf in the beautiful waters of the Gold Coast.
